The parties demanded that elections be held immediately after the Chhath festival to increase voter participation. Bihar BJP president Dilip Kumar Jaiswal suggested that the faces of women voters in burkha must be matched with voter ID cards with the help of women officers on duty so that only genuine voters get to vote. The Janata Dal(U) demanded single-phase voting, while the Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) sought a two-phase election. |

An investigation is also on into the deaths of at least 10 children linked to the consumption of cough syrups in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Both the Madhya Pradesh and Kerala governments have banned the sale and distribution of Coldrif. DEG and Ethylene Glycol (EG) are industrial solvents that sometimes contaminate pharmaceutical ingredients. The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued six global medical product alerts for over-the-counter medicines contaminated with DEG/EG since October 2022. |
